Competition Description:

In the spirit of the popular TV show Project Runway we ask our fans to take on the challenge of redesigning a garment  into a more modern fashion-forward style. The winner of the competition will be determined by our bidders in our Zenzele Online Holiday Auction, which runs from November 24-December 10. The garment with the highest bid wins a $100 gift certificate to our online or retail store, a feature on our website and possible collaboration to design items for our retails store.

Eligibility:

  • The competition is open to anyone.
  • You can enter at any time as long as we receive your entry garment by November 20th.
  • Entry of more than one garment is permitted
  • 80% of re-designed garment has to consist of fabric from original garment
  • Agree to send us at least one picture of you at work on your garment

To Enter:

Send us your name, age, country, phone and brief bio along with a picture of the original garment and a drawing or reference photo showing your intended re-design to:  marketing@zenzeleconsignment.com

By entering the competition, the contestant hereby understands that the entry garment will become property of Zenzele Consignment. In the event that the garment does not receive bids, Zenzele Consignment reserves the right to sell item either in our online or retail store.

The competition runs from October 20, 2014 to the end of the online auction on December 10, 2014. However all entry garments must be received by November 20, 2014.

CONTEST PRIZE:

Winning designer will get a $100 gift certificate for use at our online or retail store-when we open in August of 2015; a feature on our website and possible collaboration to design items for our retails store.

Hi,

I would like to enter the competition however, you say on there that
“In the event that the garment does not receive bids, Zenzele Consignment reserves the right to sell item either in our online or retail store.” If you sell the garment, does the designer get compensated for their work and some recognition? since they put time and energy into designing and making the garment.

Thank you!

    Hello Jamila,

Thank you for the question. We are hoping designers would allow us to use their garments to help us raise the resources necessary to open our store location in August 2015. We understand, however, the time and effort that goes into creating something beautiful which is why we offer as a $100 prize to our winner along with a feature. For designers who do not win via auction we plan to highlight your work on our website and social media which includes our Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and our email list. I hope this addresses your concern and that you will still consider entering the competition.
