Quality Standards

Zenzele Consignment funds the programs of the All African People’s Development and Empowerment Project (AAPDEP) programs by recycling and selling quality used clothing and defines its values by evaluating each product for wear, tear and imperfections.

Zenzele Consignment promotes high quality merchandise and products. We take the time to evaluate our merchandise before placing on the sales floor and selling it to our customers. We pride ourselves on styles and trends and value the appearance of all our merchandise and products.

Customer Service

We go the extra mile to satisfy and please our customers,  donors and clients.  We always want to exceed expectations with every purchase at Zenzele Consignment.  By providing excellent customer service we turn customers into supporters for our organization.  Our supporters do more than purchase from us. They donate to and promote the store and the projects of AAPDEP.

Promoting the Environment and Sustainable Practices

We practice sustainability. We recycle, reuse and reduce waste whenever possible in all aspects of Zenzele Consignment and AAPDEP.  We also understand that in order to genuinely heal the planet and bring health and peace, there must be self-determination for African people, who must benefit from our vast natural and human resources.

Building Communities and African self-reliance

We participate in community service as often as possible and include products that will benefit Africa and African communities everywhere.  We seek to build international relationships with African and indigenous businesses, designers and communitybased projects in the advancement of self-determination.

Promoting the Leadership of African workers

As an institution of AAPDEP, Zenzele Consignment upholds and promotes the leadership of African workers.

Volunteerism and Networking

Our growth is based on the participation of thousands of volunteers who unite with the mission of AAPDEP and the right of African people to control our own destiny. AAPDEP works with like-minded individuals and organizations committed to building a new world where all people can live in peace and prosperity.


Our activities, services, and programs are designed to support our mission, to develop the capacity of Zenzele Consignment to its greatest potential.  We manage with the highest levels of professionalism and respect for our volunteers, supporters, clients and customers.


Zenzele Consignment educates the public on AAPDEP’s mission to mobilize the collectivize skills of Africans around the world in order to establish community based development projects that improve the quality of life for African people everywhere while promoting self-reliance and self-determination as key to genuine, sustainable development.


We realize that as African people we are responsible for our own successes or failures. As an economic development project of AAPDEP, we see this as an opportunity for growth and development.  We believe that self-determination is the key to genuine sustainable development.

Zenzele Consignment is a nonprofit organization with the objective of creating resources for the projects of AAPDEP. We strive to maximize all activities, resources to create the greatest possible net income to support programs for African economic self-reliance and self-determination.

 Team Building

Zenzele Consignment strives to build unity among our team members that produces healthy relationships throughout the organization.  Our teams are a major part of our organization through leadership development and training.  We consider all members, volunteers and workers as a vital part of our work; we require participation and involvement at all levels and here are some of the ways we build our teams:


  • Attend regular meetings to discuss issues, solve problems and appreciate each other’s contributions
